Coaster of IDK

Soooooo we don’t know the theme yet of these coasters. But, i know the sizes. Also, didn’t know if we would be limited to making it in Meshmixer so that was going to determine the level of complexity for the project. Pardon the toughness of these said sketches, really was brainstorming.

Artist: Richard Long Website: http://www.richardlong.org Favorite work: “Berlin Circle” Richard Long’s work is very simple and, arguably, plain. Normally, this would bore me. However, I feel he uses the space which his work resides in as inspiration for the piece instead of forcing a piece to fit in just any given space. The colors of his materials rarely- if ever- contrast the space and for most texture is used in the same way. Yet, Long also takes a lot of liberty in contrast when it comes to the shapes of other works. The hit-or-miss tendencies with contrast creates engaging works that I believe improves every space they are implemented. My favorite aspects of Long’s artistry are in a tie between color and line. In terms of color, Long consistently uses very soft tones even in his darkest pieces. Thingiverse Exploring

First time exploring thingiverse, but I was really impressed by the selection. "Landscapes of Memory..." Reading Response

I really appreciated reading this piece because it brought to light a view of the debated which I've hardly heard about or understood. I never thought about how seeing these figures or events being portrayed in positive or unrealistically ideal fashions could influence a viewer. As a response, I am still left unsure there is a right way with how to deal with the situation In my personal experience, I heard the problems people were having with these sculptures was merely rooted in the fact that they represented people and events as they were seen at the time, despite that it no longer follows the commonly accepted beliefs of the present. I understood this problem then to be emphasized by the plaques that were originally created to define the monuments for viewers with words that followed the old ideas.
