Project 2, FINISHED!

Journey
Dragons
Star Trek
Game of Thrones
Phoenix
Portal

The coasters turned out exactly as intended! Super-duper happy about them and for completing them for use. I'll just have to fill the top with resin so they make a flat layer. Then, I plan on adding a layer or material, either gel or cork, to the bottom so they don't stick to tables as much.

The only thing I have to complain about is the holder. Unfortunately, a miniature test print proved that my original design had walls that were too thin. Therefore I had to redesign it so the walls were thick, which lead to the current design that I actually dislike because the walls are too thick (in my opinion). If I had the chance to redo it, I would fix/change the walls from being curvy to being straight on the inside and just adding curve to the outside.

Artist Research 1

Artist: Richard Long Website: http://www.richardlong.org Favorite work: “Berlin Circle” Richard Long’s work is very simple and, arguably, plain. Normally, this would bore me. However, I feel he uses the space which his work resides in as inspiration for the piece instead of forcing a piece to fit in just any given space. The colors of his materials rarely- if ever- contrast the space and for most texture is used in the same way. Yet, Long also takes a lot of liberty in contrast when it comes to the shapes of other works. The hit-or-miss tendencies with contrast creates engaging works that I believe improves every space they are implemented. My favorite aspects of Long’s artistry are in a tie between color and line. In terms of color, Long consistently uses very soft tones even in his darkest pieces. This creates a calming feeling as the art is observed, as well as an overall sense of unity between everything Long creates. On the other hand, Long’s linework is so zen-li...

Project 3; Progress Post 2

I decided to use Fusion 360 to create my model. Because I used so many primary shapes, Fusion is the easiest to manipulate in order to make the cuts and build the structure I'm looking for.  I started with making the the main house, then went to town creating the holes. After the holes, I switched my focus to the base, during which I learned how to use a ramping tool that worked pretty perfectly. Lastly I did the words, using a word collage as guidance.  I like where it was going, but the words really weighed dow the program and ultimately had to call it quits before I put all the words on. Further, one wall did not receive any word treatment. It sucks but I accepted it. I'm really happy with how the rest of the model went.

Nothing Important

An example of what happens when you teach someone how to use modeling/texturing software and then they get bored.
